My heart automatically beats faster when I catch sight of mountains or the sea.
The call to adventure has always been strong in my family, and we have always been happy to submit to her beguilling whisper. I’m attracted to wild places, I think they reflect an innate part of my nature that I often try to keep hidden.
I’m not wild. I like order and consistency. I get off on schedules and pattern prediction. But deep down, I think we all long to loose control.
To make mistakes, be chaotic and uncontrollable.
The wild represents freedom.
And when people ask the question ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’, my answer has always been ‘Free’.
I couldn’t live out my life in a cage. A cage of any kind, be that a relationship, a job, a place. If I am kept in a cage for too long I start to die.
So I know I will spend my life running towards that call.
